Charlotte Edwardes is a novelist and multi-award-winning journalist.

Her debut Trouble Was, published by Bloomsbury, was described by Sarah Moss as, “Like the building of a thunderstorm through a sultry day … the novel's engines thrum from the first page.” Booker prize winning author Samantha Harvey said, “I’ve read no better novel in years… it has the makings of a classic.”

Edwardes writes profiles and features for the Guardian Saturday magazine. She has previously written for The Times magazine and was The Evening Standard’s chief interviewer and features editor. Earlier in her career she wrote for The Telegraph, where she covered the war in Iraq and won awards for investigative journalism.

Edwardes is a four times British Press Award winner. She was named Interviewer of The Year in the British Press Awards in 2017, 2018 and 2026.

Edwardes holds an MFA in creative writing from NYU.

She lives in London.
